We hired a car out of Hamburg and drove to the northern town of Sankt Peter Ording. Widely known for its healing benefits, in summer this town pumps with tourism as a go-to holiday destination for the people of Hamburg. We went in the depths of winter! And while it is absolutely stunning, Sankt Peter Ording was also as cold and windy as anywhere I’ve been. I think summer is a better choice!
We followed this up with a stay in Lübeck, the birthplace of Christine’s mother and a place that holds a special spot in her heart. Again, freezing cold and again, absolutely stunning. Lübeck has all the charm of Amsterdam’s architecture at the speed of a retirement resort. But the middle of winter isn’t an accurate representation of Lüback; we’ll just have to return in summer!
